Leadership Legacy Award

The Center for Executive Succession is proud to sponsor the eighth annual Leadership Legacy Award. This distinguished award recognizes a CEO who has personally invested their time and effort in building a legacy of leadership talent in their organization while simultaneously delivering strong financial, reputational and social performance. It is the only award of its kind that celebrates a CEO's profound commitment to developing future C-suite leaders.

Congratulations to the 2024 Winner

Craig Arnold, chairman and chief executive officer of Eaton, a global leader in intelligent power management, has been named the recipient of the 2024 Leadership Legacy Award. Recognized for his exemplary leadership and strategic vision, Arnold will receive the award and share his insights during a Fireside Chat at the Moore School.

Arnold’s journey to the helm of Eaton is marked by a series of pivotal leadership roles. He was appointed chairman and CEO in June 2016, following his earlier roles as president, chief operating officer, and member of the board of directors starting in September 2015. Under Arnold's leadership, Eaton has carved out a strong presence in high-growth sectors such as power management technologies, vehicle electrification, sustainability, cybersecurity, transportation and safety. His strategic direction has not only driven significant sales growth and profitability but also ensured Eaton’s continued investment in emerging industries, positioning the company for future success.

Arnold’s career began in 1983 at General Electric Company (GE), where he held leadership positions across various business units, including GE Plastics in Greater China, GE Appliances in Asia, and GE Lighting Services Ltd. in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India. In 2000, he joined Eaton as senior vice president and group executive of the Fluid Power Group.

Beyond his role at Eaton, Arnold serves as the lead director on the board of Medtronic, Inc., and is an active member of the Business Roundtable, where he contributes to the Special Committee for Racial Equity and Justice. He also participates in The Business Council and holds advisory roles with The Salvation Army of Greater Cleveland, Greater Cleveland Partnership, and the United Way of Greater Cleveland.

Arnold’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in psychology from California State University, San Bernardino, and an MBA from Pepperdine University.

As part of the Leadership Legacy Award, the Center for Executive Succession donates $10,000 to the charity of the winner’s choosing.
