The University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law is proud to welcome the class of 2028.
This year’s 1Ls were selected from a competitive pool of 2,114 applicants. Of those, 632 were admitted with 221 students enrolling. These students have impressive academic credentials, with a median LSAT score of 162 and a median undergraduate GPA of 3.67.
The law school is proud to welcome 12 graduates of the USC Honors College, one of whom is among the eight Carolina Law Research Scholars.
The class reflects a strong mix of in-state and out-of-state students, with nearly 60 percent coming from South Carolina. Students in this class hail from 24 states, including Alabama, Arizona, New York, Texas and Virginia, plus Washington, D.C., demonstrating the school’s growing reach and national appeal.
Collectively, this year's class earned degrees from 77 different colleges and universities with the largest contingents coming from the University of South Carolina (47), followed by Clemson University (35) and solid contingents from other South Carolina colleges and universities, including Furman University (9), Wofford College (8), and College of Charleston (5).
Out-of-state institutions represented with multiple class members include the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, the University of Georgia, Auburn University, the University of Florida, and Washington and Lee University.
