Communities of Practice

The CTE's Communities of Practice provide opportunities for sustained and deeper engagement with teaching related interests and topics in a collegial setting. They allow for informal conversation and idea sharing among colleagues involved in a particular area of teaching.

Large Lecture Course

Coordinators and Instructors of Large Undergraduate Courses (CILUC CoP)

The Coordinators and Instructors of Large Undergraduate Courses Community of Practice (CILUC CoP) provides a medium for participants to discuss and share best practices and resources for effective coordination of large undergraduate courses, including logistics, class management, GTA and adjunct supervision, and other issues unique to large course management.

GenAI CoP

Generative Artificial Intelligence Community of Practice (GenAI CoP)

The Generative Artificial Intelligence Community of Practice (GenAI CoP) is a collaborative initiative designed to explore and discuss the implications of GenAI in higher education. This community brings together faculty, staff, and graduate students to share insights, strategies, and experiences related to the integration of GenAI across administration, research, teaching, and learning.

Universal Design for Learning CoP

Universal Design for Learning Community of Practice (UDL CoP)

The Universal Design for Learning Community of Practice (UDL CoP) aims to center conversations regarding how UDL can be used to support USC students and innovate teaching practice. The goals of the CoP include: 1) Establishing best practices for meeting the needs of all USC students, 2) Developing strategies for ensuring course content accessibility, 3) Identifying opportunities to support faculty in implementing UDL principles.

VE CoP

Virtual Environments Community of Practice (VE CoP)

The Virtual Environments Community of Practice is planning ways to bring 360° video, virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality into teaching and learning environments at USC. Meetings are open to faculty, staff and students. To join this group, please email Andy Schumpert at schumpca@email.sc.edu. If you are interested in implementing Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and/or 360° video into your curriculum, the Center for Teaching Excellence has the technology available that you can checkout to get started.
