State of the University
President Michael Amiridis will reflect on the achievements of the past year and look to the future with his State of the University address on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at 10 a.m. on the historic Horseshoe, a fitting backdrop as the university marks 225 years since its founding.
About the Event
The University of South Carolina’s annual State of the University address is an opportunity for the campus community to celebrate recent successes and unite around a vision for the future. Open to students, faculty and staff and led by the university president, the event has become an important tradition marking the beginning of a new academic year.
The 2026 address is also one for the record books, as the university celebrates 225 years since its charter was established by the state legislature in 1801.
