An Exam Week Message from President Amiridis

April 22, 2024

Dear Students,

Congratulations on reaching the end of a great semester and the academic year! I hope that, by now, you have dried off from any recent unauthorized, but very exciting, celebratory dips in the Thomas Cooper fountain.

Today, you wrap up your last classes. Tomorrow, you begin studying for exams. And after the final tests, you’ll be ready for your summer adventures.

I hope you are proud of everything you have accomplished over the past year. Your commitment to your education is one of the best things you can do for yourselves. I am proud of you and how well you represent our university every day.

Whatever your next few months hold in store – travels, internships, summer studies, graduation, first professional jobs, graduate school, and so many more options – please remember to focus on first things first. Give your final assignments and your exams your best efforts. Stay healthy – eat well, rest well, exercise when you can, and take some moments to relax with friends. It is more important to take care of your health and well-being than it is to take care of anything else.

I hope you will find the time to join us for a study break on Tuesday night, April 23, at Gamecock Park in Russell House or at the Pavilion at Campus Village. Both of these dining locations will be serving Midnight Breakfast from 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Ero and I will be stopping by both locations to join other university leaders who will be dishing up free pancakes, eggs and other breakfast treats. You’ve earned it!

The campus will be too quiet when you are gone. We will miss you and look forward to seeing you return in August and to welcoming the new freshman class.

And for those who graduate this spring, know that our best wishes go with you. We hope you will come back often to your USC academic home and let us know how you are doing! Congratulations on earning your degrees – I hope to see you at Commencement!

Best wishes to all,

Michael D. Amiridis
President
