Scholarships are funds that don’t need to be repaid. There are thousands of scholarships at your fingertips, but be careful as you search. You should never pay to apply for a scholarship. Review our scholarship sources for credible resources.

Scholarship Sources

Scholarships for S.C. Residents

From state scholarships to general university scholarships that are awarded to incoming freshmen, there are a variety of opportunities that support residents of South Carolina.

Scholarships for Nonresidents

Awarded through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, there are a variety of scholarships for non-South Carolina resident freshman, many of which include tuition reduction.

Departmental Scholarships

Departmental scholarships are most often awarded to continuing students who have demonstrated excellence in meeting the eligibility criteria. However, some departments also award scholarships to incoming freshmen.

Health Workforce Scholarships

Health Workforce Scholarships are provided through the Health Resource and Service Administration in exchange for service commitments.

Faculty/Staff Dependent Scholarships

The USC Faculty/Staff Dependent Scholarship is awarded to eligible students enrolled full-time at any USC campus.

Scholarship Policies

Review USC's policies related to general scholarships and department scholarships, such as eligibility, enrollment, use of scholarships during the summer, scholarship retention and financial policies related to your scholarship award.

Students applying for freshman admission to the University of South Carolina’s Columbia campus will not be required to submit standardized SAT or ACT scores through the spring, summer or fall 2025 terms.

The test-optional policy applies to students applying for general university and South Carolina Honors College admission, as well as to merit scholarships awarded by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

The test-optional policy does not apply to state scholarships.

1. Click on the Home tab and complete any unsatisfied student requirements.

2. Click on the Offer tab to view, accept and/or decline your offers.

3. Click on the Notifications tab for additional updates or instructions.

4. Review the Satisfactory Academic Progress tab to make sure you are meeting the requirements to retain your awards.
