Grants are usually awarded based on financial need. Your financial need is determined by the information you reported on your FAFSA.
Federal grants are supported by funding from the federal government. At the University of South Carolina, we offer the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant and Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant.
State Need-Based Grants are only awarded to South Carolina residents. Entering freshmen, transfer students and continuing education students are all eligible, based on meeting eligibility requirements.
Since 2008, the Gamecock Guarantee has offered an affordable, high-quality education to academically talented first-generation students from low-income South Carolina families.
USC Access Grants provide lower middle income families assistance in accessing an affordable education. The availability of this award is based on funding provided by the institution.
The USC Commitment Grant is designed to help resident students in the top 10% of their high school graduating class meet the cost of tuition, technology fee, and average program fees.
