Spark supports the School of Music community as it transforms meaningful ideas into real opportunity.

Community Impact Projects and Grants

Spark Community Impact Projects for Students and Community Impact Grants for Faculty and Staff encourage collaboration and innovation through music leadership; emphasize support; and encourage projects, events or activities rooted in community service or community engagement to one or more of the following:

  • School of Music community
  • USC Campus community
  • Columbia local community
  • South Carolina/Southeastern community
  • National/world community

Awards range from $250 - $1,500.

Spark Mini-Grants

Spark Mini-Grants enable full-time faculty, staff and students to request funds for Spark-related goals within the School of Music. Requests should fall in line with the Spark mission to prepare students for vibrant and sustainable futures through creative learning, skill development, and personal exploration. The maximum award per recipient is $500 each academic year.

In addition to the awards, Spark team members can be available for project consultations. Come in with your project timeline and overview to get help with any challenges you may be facing.

Spark Summer Study Grants

Spark Summer Study Grants support students' pursuit of opportunities and learning environments which align with Spark's mission to support the development and exploration of diverse and dynamic musical lives. These grants provide up to $1,200 to students for summer study at music festivals, young artist programs, training programs, etc.
