Scroll down for a detailed Schedule of Events.

Activities and classes for beginning, intermediate and advanced players connect young woodwind students from across the state and region and ensure a day full of great learning, listening, and playing experiences. This workshop is hosted by USC faculty and members of the flute, oboe and bassoon studios. Lunch is provided.

Example of day's activities include:

  •  A short recital featuring USC faculty and students in varying chamber ensembles
  • An informative presentation led by a member of the USC School of Music’s admissions team. This event is especially for high school students considering majoring or participating in music in college and their parents
  • Age-appropriate woodwind chamber group rehearsal sessions, led by USC faculty and students
  • Instrument “petting zoo,” including the contrabassoon, alto and bass flutes and various world instruments
  • Coffee, pizza lunch and snacks provided!

Cost, Registration and Check-In

A $40 registration fee (non-refundable), paid online and in advance, covers all activities and lunch. Parents may attend for free.

If you have not yet done so, all participants are required to fill out an online Waiver of Liability for Minor Participants.

Registration is now closed. (Walk-in registration is not permitted).  It includes the submission of a short video demonstrating your current playing level so we may place you in an appropriate chamber group.

Please note that while this year’s day does not include all-state etude mock auditions or masterclasses, students may record all-state etudes for their video submission, and can receive written comments about their submission upon request.
