David Harper Means

 

David Harper Means, was a true scholar, teacher, and gentleman. As a child, he attended Columbia-area public Schools, and later earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of South Carolina, in addition to becoming a Silver Star infantry captain.

Starting in 1949 he taught Property, Conflicts of Law, and Jurisprudence at USC and was a visiting professor at New York University, Wayne State University, the University of Atlanta, Widener University, and Washington University in St. Louis.

He was named a University Chair Professor of Law in 1972 and David W. Robinson Professor of Law in 1977. He died March 24, 1988.
