Global Fellows Living Learning Community

There's no better way to improve your language skills than to immerse yourself completely. The Global Fellows Living Learning Community housed in South Quad can give you the opportunity to do just that, without ever leaving campus.

An International Community

Residents of the Global Fellows Living Learning Community can practice using their foreign languages every day and to be a part of a cultural exchange with international students who are housed in the community.

One of the highlights of Global Fellows is our monthly Global Supper Club, where students get a chance to learn how to make international dishes like arepas, hummus, and sushi from professional chefs or language instructors who also teach about the history and culture of the food.

Language tables are another important feature of the Global Fellows community.  Instructors or students who are native speakers of the language hold weekly meetings where students of all levels can go for conversation practice, help with homework, and cultural enrichment. We currently host Mandarin, Japanese, Spanish, Arabic, Korean, French, and Russian.  Language tables are open to all current USC students.

As a living and learning community member, you'll also have the opportunity to take special sections of courses such as University 101, English 101, Speech 140, and Spanish 121-122 in South Quad with other students in the community.

Our own Krista Van Fleit, Associate Professor of Chinese Studies, serves as faculty director of Global Fellows.  Learn more about her vision for the community here
