Events
Welcome to the Department of Anthropology's events page! Events are open to all members
of the University of South Carolina community and the public. Topics range from scholarly
research to industry advice (e.g., careers, publishing, research).
In
particular, the Colloquia Series hosts local scholars and invited guests who cover
engaging research from around the world. They are an excellent opportunity to learn
about groundbreaking anthropological research, to meet and interact with scholars,
and get inspired by what others are doing.

An Archaeological Field School Experience
Buddy Wingard is proud to announce that his short film “An Archeological Field School
Experience at Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site, Beech Island, South Carolina”
has been accepted to the South Carolina Underground Film Festival being held in Columbia,
SC the weekend of November 8th. The short film focuses on archaeology and sharing
the profession with students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)
who otherwise would not have the opportunity. The students in the film volunteered
their spring break to study with the instructors and shared their experiences during
the process.
The film will be shown during the 1:30 block of films on Sunday November 10th at The Nickelodeon Theater, located at 1607 Main Street Columbia,
SC 29201. This is always a great festival with a lot of diverse films.
