Dr. Long is an experienced educator and public health communications expert who bridges academic theory with real-world practice, providing students with both foundational knowledge and practical insights from the field.

With over a decade of teaching experience in higher education, Dr. Long has instructed courses across public health, healthcare administration, and communications programs. His teaching approach emphasizes applied learning, challenging students to connect theoretical concepts with contemporary health challenges facing communities nationwide.

Dr. Long has built a distinguished 17-year career in public health communications, primarily focused on designing and implementing influential and award-winning federal public health campaigns. His extensive experience includes collaborative work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, various state and local health departments, and prominent organizations like the American Red Cross.

Currently serving as Principal Health Communications Researcher at Fors Marsh, Dr. Long leads strategic research that shapes some of the nation's most impactful public health initiatives addressing critical issues including HIV prevention, drug overdose response, chronic disease management, and other pressing public health concerns. This ongoing field work enriches his classroom instruction with current case studies and emerging best practices in health communication.

Dr. Long holds a doctorate in Health Promotion and Behavior and a Master of Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Georgia. His research interests focus on effective message design for behavior change communication, health literacy, and digital health interventions
